The first signs of life in the city date back to the second millennium BC, with the discovery of stilt houses and rock engravings found on Monte Baldo. Like all the communities of Lake Garda, Torri del Benaco after the fall of the Roman Empire was subjected to the invasions of Goths, Lombards and the Franks at the end of the tenth century. So it was that in '905 the king of Italy Berengario I, decided to build around the city walls and Torre di Berengario, you can still see the remains, Torri del Benaco, perhaps it is one of the cities that has retained the most its historic center. Church of San Giovanni, the Church of the Trinity and S. Gregorio a Pai, date back to the twelfth century with the passage of Barbarossa, later Torri del Benaco was dominated by the Scaligeri. In 1405 Torri became part of the Republic of Venice, became the headquarters of the Gardesana dell'Acqua. Between 1500 and 1600 the population was halved by the plague, in 1866 it became part of the Kingdom of Italy, the economy was not flourishing for this reason many inhabitants were forced to emigrate. In the 1920s, the Gardesana road was widened and the economy started a slow recovery. The most important figures passed by the towers of the Benaco were, the humanist Domizio Calderini, the botanist Gregorio Rigo, the blessed Filippo Malerba and the scholar Luigi Eccheli..
